UT Austin New Core Curriculum: Understanding the Changes in Higher Education

 The University of Texas at Austin is reviewing its core curriculum as part of a broader effort to strengthen undergraduate education. In October 2025, UT Austin announced a Core Curriculum Task Force to conduct a thorough review of the existing general education curriculum. The task force was asked to consider gaps in quality, rigor and intellectual cohesion and propose revisions for a stronger shared learning experience. What Is a Core Curriculum? A core curriculum provides students with a broad academic foundation outside their specialized major.
